Walking towards home! This is our fate, that gives us hope and strengthen us in times of trail! Jesus, to His disciples, at the last paschal supper, promised: I go and prepare a place for you! We can be sure that Jesus doesn’t use empty words, He doesn’t mean to cheat or deceive! He is truly preparing for us "a place", so that we too can be where He is, to reign, to enjoy the promised and prepared banquet! The immages used in the parables and the prophetic speeches are only immages, shadows, to a reality which is far much beautiful!
In the two thousand years since the first speech on the mountain, many have gone to" the place of the fathers", are with the Lord Jesus, like the humble thief who asked Him to remember him in His Kingdom! These servants of the Lord, our brothers, are enjoying God’s faithfulness! In fact, Jesus said: The one who serve me, the Father shall honor him! Today, we too share in God’s work and honor the servants of Jesus, all sinners, but all converted and washed in the blood of the Lamb!
The Readings of today’s feast are very beautiful: the words of Jesus that echo often "blessed", give us hope, joy, and light to direct us in time of temptations are keep on trying to seduce us with the vanity and shrewdness of this world. The joy of John, the apostle, wants to reveal to us the face of the Father, a friendly, good, and shining face. A face that reflects His light on our faces and make us wish and wait the day in which we can see its splendor! The prophetic reading from Revelation attempts to make us enter beyon the veil, in that City that awaits us to make us sing the praises of God and of the Lamb!
Today’s liturgy is permeated with the feeling of awaiting, of light, of joy. It is a break moment on the mountain from which one can see afar the destination. It is a moment in which one can already taste the feast of eternity!
In truth, the one who dies, , does not disappear. The one who dies in the love of Jesus is not considered death by God, but is loved and honored! And we, who are His sons and daughters, learn from Him. We don’t await the joy and the peace of the reign only for ourselves, but we enjoy that already enjoyed by our brothers and sisters, who loved the same Lord we love!
Today, we enjoy being Church, assembley that listen, sing and exult in that exultation which is already enjoyed by many in eternity! We are still pilgrims, but united to a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people and tongue, brothers and sisters clothed in white robes, who have gone through the great tribulation washing their robes making them with with the blood of the Lamb!
From today’s joy we receive the strength to live according to the words proclaimed by Jesus on the mountain blessed are the poor in spirit, blessed are the pure at heart, blessed are the merciful, blessed…
Thankyou Father for being Father!
Thankyou Jesus, you are the way to the Father!
Thankyou Holy Spirit, you purify and unite us so that with one voice we can sing for ever the joy of being saved, loved, welcomed, made holy!
